What do we do?

Each week, Workers (either a Chaplain & a Reader, or two Readers) visit the institution to give a Church Service with the Christian Science Bible Lesson for the male and female inmates. Together the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures are the Pastor of the Christian Science Church. The lessons are intended to be instructive, and often the inmates are invited to participate, reading aloud and singing songs of praise. The hour-long service is to create a healing atmosphere that embraces and benefits everyone present, as well as the institutional community. Sometimes these services are offered in Spanish.

Chaplains– Besides officiating over the church services, Chaplains are also available for one-to-one visits and discussions with inmates who are inspired to know more about God and how the spiritual principles of Christian Science can aid them in their lives.  Chaplains often pray with or for the inmate if asked.
